Career & Outcomes
Pay depends on experience, license class, employer, and route. In Utah, most CDL drivers earn between $50,000 and $70,000 a year, and many carriers add sign-on bonuses. Some companies pay $30+ per hour, and large employers like Walmart have advertised first-year pay up to around $115,000 for experienced drivers who meet their requirements. New graduates typically start at the lower end and earn more as they gain experience — and Class A drivers generally out-earn Class B drivers since they can run tractor-trailers and long-haul routes.
